Retrofit Coordinators

A Retrofit Coordinator will manage a retrofit project from inception to completion and will need to liaise with owners and householders, Retrofit Assessors, Retrofit Designers and Retrofit Installers in order to ensure the customer journey is as smooth as possible.

The activities that Retrofit Coordinators will need to undertake as part of the PAS 2035 process include:

• The completion of a PAS2035 Annex B Normative Risk Path Assessment for each home determines the level of risk proposed in the Improvement Options Evaluation.
• Development of a retrofit project plan based on the data collected by the Retrofit Assessor – The Improvement Options Evaluation.
• Preinstall SAP modelling to ensure minimum ECO4 SAP Banding is achieved.
• The development of a medium-term improvement plan for every dwelling, for implementation over a period of 20-30 years
• Ensuring that Part L1 of Building Regs are adhered to and the protected status of the property is identified e.g. listed or conservation area.
• Formulate the Ventilation Strategy that is required for each property following the rule of ‘Insulate Tight – Ventilate Right’ in addition to adhering to Part F Building Regs in England and SCOTLAND
• The document the progress of the project, including any information that is supplied by the Retrofit Installer building owners, and householders involved in the delivery of the project.

Here at Retrofit Coordinators UK we have a team of fully qualified Retrofit Coordinators, headed up by Alex Leighton, who has been in the industry since 2011, starting as a surveyor and quickly setting up an installation business fitting everything from Loft insulation to Solar PV.

Alex is a member of the Retrofit Academy Level 5 Diploma mentoring team and over the past 2 years has helped update the learning material as well as presenting the Academy online and face-to-face bootcamps.

In addition to the Retrofit Academy Alex has also been part of the Stroma Retrofit Coordinators auditing team and is an Affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologies working towards chartered status.
